Thank You, Lord, for saying No...

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (Job, in his unimaginable physical and emotional pain, vented to the Lord, saying...)

19 19 19 19 Why won’t you leave me alone,
at least long enough for me to swallow!

III. Reflection

* QuestionsHave we ever given thanks for the things the Lord said "no" to our prayers?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for reminding me that You did not fulfill Job's request to loosen Your hand on him. And this was the second time, again, You did not fulfill his request to let Your eye off of him. Without You, You knew he could not live, although death was what he asked for in desperation, without consideration. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your understanding that sometimes we do not know the consequences of what we are asking for (Matthew 20:22). O Lord! Please let me trust You by asking and seeking and knocking as You encourage me to do. Even so, please teach me also to trust You when You answer not, show not, and open not. You have Your reasons, and with that, let me be at peace to be in Your care. Amen
