Being afraid is normal, The Lord knows...

II. One thing the Bible teaches (The Lord selected for Gideon 300 men to fight against the innumerable military alliance of the Midianites, Amalekites, and others from the East. As Gideon prepared for the battle...)
9 Now the same night it came about that the Lord said to him, “Arise, go down against the camp, for I have given it into your hands. 10 But if you are afraid to go down, go with Purah your servant down to the camp, 11 and you will hear what they say; and afterward your hands will be strengthened that you may go down against the camp.” So he went with Purah his servant, down to the outposts of the army that was in the camp.
III. Reflection
* Questions: Did Gideon, in the cover of darkness, go to the enemy's military camp to gather intelligence information alone? Why?
IV. Application
Dear Lord God, I thank You for showing me that Gideon did not go alone because he was afraid. And You already knew this about him — a man who is afraid. He went into danger using plan B that You had provided to him--"Go with your servant Purah if you are afraid." I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that although You do not want me to sin, You have a plan B for me just in case. You know my deficiencies and my weaknesses full well; it is so comforting to know, Lord, that You are standing by for me should I fail (1 John 2:1). Please help me to try my best, knowing that You will take care of the rest for me. I am grateful. Amen
