To be alert...

I. Click here to READ Nehemiah 4 first.

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (rebuilding the wall in the middle of the temple of the Lord was very challenging, especially when the project was done amid one's own enemies...)

17 Those who were rebuilding the wall and those who carried burdens took their load with one hand doing the work and the other holding a weapon.

III. Reflection

QuestionsHow can the above verse be used as an illustration for being alert?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me the challenging time that Your people had to live through if they wanted to do Your work and complete Your will. While You were protecting them, You wanted them to be constantly alert to their surrounding enemies. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your teaching regarding my constantly surrounding spiritual enemies, who can only be dealt with by alertness and prayer (Matthew 26:41). O Holy Spirit! Please help me to be sensitive to Your leading me throughout the day, to be alert, and to be in prayer. Today. Amen
