II. One thing the Bible teaches: (In the tasks of rebuilding the wall of the temple of God...)

1 ... Eliashib the high priest arose with his brothers the priests and built the Sheep Gate; they consecrated it and hung its doors. They consecrated the wall to the Tower of the Hundred and the Tower of Hananel. Next to him the men of Jericho built, and next to them Zaccur the son of Imri built. Now the sons of Hassenaah built the Fish Gate... Next to them.... And next to him... And next to him... Moreover, next to him... 12 Next to him Shallum the son of Hallohesh, the official of half the district of Jerusalem, made repairs, he and his daughters.

III. Reflection

QuestionsWhat does it mean by shoulder to shoulder?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me the method to reconstruct the wall of Your templeeverybody has his or her own responsibility for certain sections of the wall. They stood side by side to do Your work but not each other's toes. Everyone is aiming to glorify You through the work of their hands — whether big or small, skillful or inexperienced, sons or daughters. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for bringing me to this point and reminding me of Your teaching about letting the children come and show their passion for You in their own ways (Matthew 19:14). O Lord! Today, let me be happy because Your people want to serve You with their hearts and their abilities. Please let me stand with them shoulder to shoulder to serve You, not on each other's toes. Amen
