II. One thing the Bible teaches:

27 Now at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought out the Levites from all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem so that they might celebrate the dedication with gladness, with hymns of thanksgiving and with songs to the accompaniment of cymbals, harps and lyres.

III. Reflection

* QuestionsHow difficult was it to seek out the Levites from all their places to bring them to Jerusalem for the dedication of the reconstructed walls of Jerusalem?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me that it must be very hard to seek out the Levites from all over the place to bring them to Jerusalem for the dedication ceremony. It was hard, physically, because there were many of them, there were many places, and there was much land. But it was hard, mentally, also, because of the question of why we need them. Why need many of them? Why must the Lord's work wait? I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your teaching about one of the two sons who left home, one of the ten coins misplaced, and one of the one hundred sheep strayed (Luke 15). All had a happy ending because the party of power had patience. O Lord! Please teach me not to be arrogant so as not to make people wait for me just because I think I am a VIP. Please also teach me not to be so prideful as to quickly disregard someone because that someone is dispensable--the gap can be filled without any problem. Please help me to bear witness for You loudly by patiently waiting. The show does not have to go anywhere, soon. Amen
