II. One thing the Bible teaches: 

1 Now in the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, on the thirteenth day of the same, when the king's command and edict were about to be carried out, on the very day when the enemies of the Jews hoped to gain the mastery over them, the reverse occurred: the Jews gained mastery over those who hated them... 22 ... the month that had been turned for them from sorrow into gladness and from mourning into a holiday...

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me that many things were reversed for the Jews at the intervention of King Ahasuerus: from killing to saving, from destroying to restoring, from being mastered to mastering, from sorrow to gladness, and from mourning to celebrating. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your first teaching on repentance--a change of mind, a turning back, a reverse of course (Mark 1:14-15). O Lord! Today, please help me start the day with repentance. When my going and thinking and doing are reversed toward You, may my life situation be reversed as well, from sorrow to gladness and from mourning to celebrating. Amen
