II. One thing the Bible teaches: (At Queen Esther's request and at Mordecai's guidance, the king issued a decree to erase Haman's command to kill all the Jews everywhere...)

16 For the Jews there was light and gladness and joy and honor. 17 In each and every province and in each and every city, wherever the king’s commandment and his decree arrived, there was gladness and joy for the Jews, a feast and a holiday...

III. Reflection

* QuestionsWhat triggered light, gladness, joy, and honor in the life of the Jews in the Persian empire back then?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me that what triggered light, gladness, joy, and honor in the lives of the Jews back then was not the king's commandment; it wasn't the arrival of the decree either. Rather, it was because the Jews believed the decree to be true. And they accepted it. That brought light, gladness, joy, honor, and everything else we call blessings. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your teaching that as many as receive You, to them You give the right to become children of God (John 1:12). O Lord! Since the salvation message itself does not save, not even the arrival of the Savior, I pray that people will receive You and be savedto have light, gladness, joy, and honor in their lives. Today. Amen
