Trembling or Confidence...

I. Click here to READ Esther 5 first.

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (The wicked and arrogant Haman was highly elevated by the Persian king. He had two things--hating the Jews and loving to see people trembling before him...)

9 And Haman went out that day joyful and glad of heart. But when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he neither rose nor trembled before him, he was filled with wrath against Mordecai...

III. Reflection

* QuestionsWhy was Haman in need of being honored and respected by other people, even to the point of trembling in his presence?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God, I thank You for showing me that Haman had a deep need to be honored and respected by others because of his insecurity. It was so because his position was given to him, and the honor was commanded for him by the king. Humans want fellow humans to come bowing and trembling before him. Not so for the highly mighty God! I thank You, Lord Jesus, for bringing me to this point and reminding me of Your Word that You want us to approach You with confidence and boldness (Hebrews 4:16). O Lord! Please help me today to be bold and confident as I come into Your presence through praying or worshiping... because my sins have been forgiven. Amen

I pray for certain readers today to experience this boldness and confidence when they come into your presence as well. Amen
