Arise!

I. Click here to READ Ezra 5 first.

II. One thing the Bible teaches:

Now the prophets, Haggai and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem, in the name of the God of Israel who was over them. Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak arose and began to rebuild the house of God that is in Jerusalem, and the prophets of God were with them, supporting them.

III. Reflection

QuestionsWhat does it mean by arising in this passage? Toddler Samuel arose, too (1 Sam 3:8). Were there any similarities?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God, I thank You for teaching me the similarities. Toddler Samuel was sleeping when You called him. He quickly left his sleeping. He immediately changed his position. He arose. He went from being passive to being active. Without hesitation, he responded to You! I thank You for letting me see that the Israelite returnees and their leadership did the same thing. The reconstruction project had been deep in its sleep for a long time. On that day, once touched by Your Word, Your people arose! They changed their passiveness to activeness. They responded without hesitation. They quickly revived the project. They did it without fear or hesitation. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your teaching of the four benefits of Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16). O Lord! Please use Your Word to show me the truth, to expose my rebellion, to correct my mistakes, and to train me to live according to Your ways. Today. Amen
