Separation no more!

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (among the people returning from captivity after 70 years...)

59 The following were those who came up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addan, and Immer, though they could not prove their fathers' houses or their descent, whether they belonged to Israel... 62 These sought their registration among those enrolled in the genealogies, but they were not found there, and so they were excluded from the priesthood as unclean.

III. Reflection

QuestionsHow difficult was it to have been scattered in a foreign land for 70 years, and now had to prove the traces of the family tree?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for letting me know that it is very difficult to trace one's background and family roots after having been scattered in captivity in a foreign land for so long. Not only was it difficult to trace the family tree, but it was also not easy to tell the family stories clearly. As a result, there was an exclusion and separation among the people—those who could find and those who could not find their roots. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that there will be no division or exclusion among the people who are in Christ (Gal 3:28). O Lord! Today, please help me to live true to this expectation of Yours. For those who are in You, there will be separation no more. Amen
