II. One thing the Bible teaches: (Persia was the super-empire of the world  at the time...)

23 “Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, ‘The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and he has charged me to build him a house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever is among you of all his people, may the Lord his God be with him. Let him go up.’”

III. Reflection

QuestionsBesides being the king of Persia, who was Cyrus?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me that besides being the emperor of the Persian empire, Cyrus was known to be the shepherd of the Lord; Cyrus was the liberator of the Lord's people being exiled in his land; Cyrus did not know the Lord; Cyrus was named more than a century before he was born in Persia (Isaiah 45:4). O Lord! You are the one true and supreme God. You are the God who is all-power, all-knowing, and all-present. You can do anything for anyone at any time. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that Your being human through the Virgin Mary was impossible by human standards; in Your name, nothing is impossible (Mark 9:23). O Lord! Today, please help me not to be uneasy about praying for something impossible... for your glory. Amen
