II. One thing the Bible teaches: (King Josiah's secretary read from the newly-found Book before the king...)

19 And when the king heard the words of the Law, he tore his clothes.

III. Reflection

QuestionsWhat did Josiah do in verses 3 through 8 that caused him to be known as being right in the eyes of the Lord?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me that king Josiah did many faith-full things from his God-loving heart. He sought the Lord as a young man. He purged the high places and idols from his land. He chopped down the altars of Baals. He cut down their incense altars. I thank You, Lord, for letting me know that Josiah was a spiritually good man. Yet, when facing Your Word from the newly-found Book, he immediately tore his clothes, humbled himself, and repented. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for bringing me to this point, reminding me that repentance must be shown in action, not just in words (Matthew 3:8). O Lord! If king Josiah was that good spiritually, yet he responded with immediate repentance when facing Your Word, so must I. Help me, Lord, to read Your Word until Your Word reads me. Help me to respond to Your Word. Today. Amen
