II. One thing the Bible teaches: (Having done so many wicked things in life...)

12 And when he [Manasseh] was in distress, he entreated the favor of the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. 13 He prayed to him, and God was moved by his entreaty and heard his plea and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord was God.

III. Reflection

QuestionsHow many evil things and sins did king Manasseh do as written in verses 3 to 9 above?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me king Manasseh's sins against You. The list of what he did to his children, his family, his people, his Lord's house of worship, and his Lord Himself was very long15 things in all (2 Chron. 33:3-9)I thank You. Lord, for showing me that I was wrong when I thought that there was no way he could be forgiven with such heinous and serious sins! But he prayed to You in his distress and humiliation as he sank deeply in the pond of mud that he created for himself. He truly repented by turning around from what he was doing. You forgave him, and You restored his lost kingdom back to him even before he did anything to show his repentance and change. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your supreme authority to forgive every sin (1 John 1:9). O Lord! I thank You for reminding me that Your power to forgive is absolute. And my being forgiven is conditionalI must confess my sins. Please help me to do that today. Amen
