God battles, but we must be in position...

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (a huge enemy army was coming up against king Jehoshaphat and his country Judah. The king was afraid, and the Word of the Lord came to him through Jahaziel, saying...

16 Tomorrow go down against them. Behold, they will come up by the ascent of Ziz. You will find them at the end of the valley, east of the wilderness of Jeruel. 17 You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem.’ Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, and the Lord will be with you.”

III. Reflection

QuestionsAlthough the battle was the Lord's, what did His people have to do?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for reminding me that You said You would fight the battle for Your people (Exodus 17:15). You also said that they did not have to fight. Even so, I thank You for showing me that You wanted them to contribute to the military victory. And there were works for them to do: (1)they must go to the battlefield, (2) They must remain there, (3) they must stand firm, (4) They must hold their position on the battlefield, and (5) they must open their eyes to observe and see how the battle was fought and won for them. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for bringing me to this point to remind me of Your teaching: Salvation is the free gift of God, and my part in this is to receive You (John 1:12). O Lord! Please give me a chance to share this simple message of salvation with others. Today. Amen

Dear Lord Jesus: Today, I am praying for certain readers who have not yet had You as their souls' Shepherd. O Holt Spirit, please direct them to the Cross to confess their sin to be washed and cleansed thoroughly by the Lord Jesus' sinless stream of blood. Today. Amen
