II. One thing the Bible teaches: (the highest priority for the kingship of Solomon was to build the house of the Lord...)

1 Then Solomon began to build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to David his father, at the place that David had appointed, on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite. He began to build in the second month of the fourth year of his reign.

III. Reflection

QuestionsHow long did King Solomon reign? Was it the highest priority for Solomon if it took the king until the 4th year of his reign to begin the major construction in his life?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God, I thank You for letting me know that King Solomon reigned over Israel for 40 years. It took until the 4th year of those 40 years to start the construction of the major project of his lifebuilding the house of the Lord. I thank You for reminding me that careful planning takes time as You are the God of planning Yourself (Jer 29:11). I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that no one wanted to save humanity more than You, yet, You waited until the fullness of time to step into our world (Galatians 4:4-5). O Lord! Today, please help me be patient and willing to invest the time needed in planning the work of the Kingdom. Amen
