II. One thing the Bible teaches:

1 When the rule of Rehoboam was established and he was strong, he abandoned the law of the Lord, and all Israel with him.

III. Reflection

QuestionsWhy do people abandon the Lord when they are at their peak?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for reminding me of the usual conditions when Your people abandoned Youwhen they were well fed, prosperous, free, established, strong, full of possessions, and empty on the memory of Your Word and Your work (Judges 2:10). I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your teaching on the destructive end of the proud (Luke 1:51). O Lord! When I am at my peak, please remind me even more frequently that it has been Your grace that has brought me this far. Please, Lord, fill my memory with Your Word and Your work. Today. Amen
