One size does not fit all...

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (king David told his people of his cherished dream to build a house of rest for the ark and for the footstool of God. But God said to him...)
3 ... ‘You may not build a house for my name, for you are a man of war and have shed blood.’ 4 Yet the Lord God of Israel chose me from all my father's house to be king over Israel forever.
III. Reflection
* Questions: Why didn't God, in the beginning, choose a man of peace who shed no blood to be king over Israel and who would also be fit for the construction of the house of the Lord eventually?
IV. Application
Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me that You did not intend for one person to do everything, no matter how well things have been done. You did not create an atmosphere where one size fits all, no matter how highly that one size is regarded. You chose David not for what he could do — he was multitalented, indeed — but for what You wanted him to do. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your Word that not all people are to do the same thing and not the same person is to do all things (1 Cor 12:28-29). O Lord! Please help me not to think of what Kingdom work I can do today, but of what specifically You want me to do for Your Kingdom. Amen
