II. One thing the Bible teaches:

So all Israel was enrolled by genealogies; and behold, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel. And Judah was carried away into exile to Babylon for their unfaithfulness.

III. Reflection

QuestionsWhat did God's people do that constituted unfaithfulness?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for letting me know that unfaithfulness is when my living follows the pagan ways of living of the world around me (2 Ch 36:14). The consequence was so serious for Your own people of Israel—exile to Babylon, even though You loved them. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for bringing me to this point to remind me of Your teaching that the best way to deal with worldly practices is not to deal with them at all—flee (1 Tim 6:11). Keeping a social distance isn't good enough. O Lord! Please help me decisively run away from the evil ways of living that surround me every day, as Your punishment will be severe. It affects not only me but mine as well. It affects not only my current generation but the future as well. Today, please help me remember that keeping a social distance is not the same as fleeing, as Your Word instructs. Amen
