II. One thing the Bible teaches: (in the twelve tribes of Israel, the descendants of Levi were the longest and were described using 1223 words. As for the shortest list of descendants of the tribe Naphtali...)

13 The sons of Naphtali: Jahziel, Guni, Jezer and Shallum, the descendants of Bilhah.

III. Reflection

QuestionsHow many words were used to describe the descendants of Naphtali?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me the smallest tribe of Israel — Naphtali’s — described in only 13 words. While I do not know what caused that, it was clear that the Naphtali family became extinct very quickly. Family extinction was very real. However, I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your teaching that the soul cannot be extinct (John 5:28-29). O Lord! Since my soul cannot be destroyed, please help me to fear living in eternity without You. It must be a persistent pain that has no end to it. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for giving me that choice—having You or not having You in my life—today. Amen

Dear Lord Jesus, today I pray for certain readers who have not chosen to be a believer and follower of You. Because the soul cannot be destroyed, may they choose to be saved by You to start living an everlasting life in blessed peace. Amen
