A shade in the desert...

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (people all over Israel came with one mind to make David king...)

39 They were there with David three days, eating and drinking, for their kinsmen had prepared for them. 40 Moreover those who were near to them, even as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, brought food on donkeys, camels, mules and on oxen, great quantities of flour cakes, fig cakes and bunches of raisins, wine, oil, oxen and sheep. There was joy indeed in Israel.

III. Reflection

QuestionsHow would you describe joy in Israel at that time?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me a picture of joy that fits well with the atmosphere at that time over Israela picture of a person swinging in a hammock under a cool shade in the middle of a desert (Jonah 4:6). When people came together as one people, one mindset and under one leadership, that kind of joy will result even as the world around them may be burning hot. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your expectation that Your children ought to be like-minded (2 Cor 13:11). O Lord! Today, please give me that joy by working me into that oneness in Christ. Amen
