II. One thing the Bible teaches: (About king Hezekiah, there was none like him before or after...)
3 He did right in the sight of the Lord... 4 He removed the high places and broke down the sacred pillars and cut down the Asherah. He also broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for until those days the sons of Israel burned incense to it... 5 He trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel... 6 ... he clung to the Lord; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments... 13 Now in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah and seized them...
III. Reflection
* Questions: Why did bad things happen to the king who did everything correctly?
IV. Application
Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me that just because something bad happened, like the seizing and threatening of all Judean cities, it did not mean that it would end in the same way. In fact, it did not happen to Your people and the Judean cities. You intervened. You destroyed the enemy in a very traumatic way. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that You are the beginning and the end (Rev 22:13). Today, O Lord, please help me not to see the sequence by the one starting event. Please let me not be discouraged because of the way something had begun. Please help me trust You with the end result. And that, in the end, You will take care of Your loved ones. Surely. Amen
