The Lord said so, and it shall be...

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (after being pulled into a separate room to be hurriedly anointed by Elisha's disciple to be king over Israel...)

11 When Jehu went out to his fellow officers, one of them asked him, “Is everything all right? Why did this maniac come to you?” “You know the man and the sort of things he says,” Jehu replied. 12 “That’s not true!” they said. “Tell us.” Jehu said, “Here is what he told me: ‘This is what the Lord says: I anoint you king over Israel.’” 13 They quickly took their cloaks and spread them under him on the bare steps. Then they blew the trumpet and shouted, “Jehu is king!”

III. Reflection

QuestionsIs that it? All Jehu had to say to be king was the Lord anointed me to be king over Israel?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me that it was, indeed, true that Jehu was made king simply by repeating what the Lord said: I anoint you king over Israel. People revered You and believed in and acted on what You said! So Jehu was king because You said so. Period. I thank You, Lord, for Your word is our today's holy scripture. May I honor and love You by doing Your teaching through it (1 John 2:5).

I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that this is what You are saying: whoever believes in You will have eternal life. O Lord! You said so, and it shall simply be! May I remember to pray for those unbelievers around me to truly believe in You, to experience eternal life starting today. Amen
