Don't assume the worst of people...

I. Click here to READ 2 Kings 5 first.

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (the king of Aram sent his man Naaman to the king of Israel with an official, nice, and kind introduction letter to seek healing in Israel...)

When the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes and said, “Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man is sending word to me to cure a man of his leprosy? But consider now, and see how he is seeking a quarrel against me.”

III. Reflection

QuestionsWhy did the king of Israel get so upset and act so angrily upon receiving the official letter from the king of Aram?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for letting me see a clear misunderstanding caused by a lack of trust among people in positions, and the self-aggrandizing thoughts. Although no war erupted and no one was killed in this incident, misunderstandings often bring disasters. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your word, that I should not deceive myself by thinking of myself too highly, undeservedly (Galatians 6:3). Please help me today not to assume the worst of people, particularly my brothers and sisters in Christ. Amen
