The city and me...

I. Click here to READ 2 Kings 2 first.

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (about the city of Jericho...)

19 Then the men of the city said to Elisha, “Behold now, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad and the land is unfruitful.”

III. Reflection

QuestionsHow could the people in the city have given a good and pleasant assessment, as stated to Elisha?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God, I thank You for showing me that the people of the city of Jericho could see the goodness of their place of living through the two major problems they were facing. I thank You for showing me that a city having problems is not abnormal because the problems can be solved, as You did through Elisha. Not believing in the goodness of the city is a big problem--one that has no solution. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your love for Jerusalem despite its many spiritual problems (Matthew 23:37). O Lord! Please instill the love of the city in me despite its having problems. Please remind me to pray for my city. Please let Your local church not give up on its city. Amen
