Faithful to the faithless...

I. Click here to READ 2 Kings 15 first.

II. One thing the Bible teaches:

12 This is the word of the Lord which He spoke to Jehu, saying, “Your sons to the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.” And so it was.

III. Reflection

QuestionsAnd so it was despite what?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God, I thank You for showing me that although Jehu wasn't faithful to You later in his life, and even though You knew this ahead of time, You still made a promise to Jehu, and so it was: You permitted his descendants to remain on the throne of Israel until the fourth generation. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of the faithfulness of God--innumerable generations have passed since Your first promise of the Savior to humanity (Gen 3:15), at the designated time, the Savior Jesus did come (John 3:16). O Lord Jesus, You came despite the lengthy flow of time since the promise was made. You came despite the unfaithfulness humanity continued to display during the waiting time. Thank You, God, for being faithful to the faithless. Please help me today to be like You: being faithful to You, and people, despite... Amen
