I am responsible for my own sin, but...

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (when king Amaziah had firmly established his power, he began to avenge the death of his father king Joash, by killing those who slayed his father...)
6 But the sons of the slayers he did not put to death, according to what is written in the book of the Law of Moses, as the Lord commanded, saying, “The fathers shall not be put to death for the sons, nor the sons be put to death for the fathers; but each shall be put to death for his own sin.”
III. Reflection
* Questions: In what way is today's Scripture similar to "each man who eats the sour grapes, his teeth will be set on edge"?
IV. Application
Dear Lord God: I thank You for Your ruling that the father's sin shall no longer be paid for by the children. I thank You that You made that ruling effective with Your own Son's death on the cross. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for reminding me that Your death on the cross did more than that. Besides my father's sin, it paid for my own sin as well, for which I was supposed to die. O Lord! I am free today because You once came to take my place. I am free today because You died to pay the debt that I cannot pay. Today, please lead me to an opportunity to tell of the wonderful grace that I have received from You. Amen
