False accusation, True anger...

I. Click here to READ 2 Samuel 16 first.

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (In the thick smoke of chaos, Ziba, the servant of the crippled Mephibosheth, met David alone to falsely accuse Mephibosheth of betrayal David...)

3 Then the king said, “And where is your master’s son?” And Ziba said to the king, “Behold, he is staying in Jerusalem, for he said, ‘Today the house of Israel will restore the kingdom of my father to me.’” 4 So the king said to Ziba, “Behold, all that belongs to Mephibosheth is yours...”

III. Reflection

QuestionsHow was David's reaction to Ziba's reporting about Mephibosheth? How could David do better in making his decision?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God, I thank You for showing me David's swift reaction when he heard Mephibosheth's servant falsely accuse Mephibosheth of betraying David. I thank You for showing me that David not only made a fast decision, but also made it in anger. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that Your patience is perfect (1 Timothy 1:16). O Lord Jesus! Please train me to be patient so that I do not make fast decisions in anger... starting with my home. May I be like You. O Lord. Amen
