Counsel a man? Must consult God first...

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (David would like to build a good "house" for the Lord as opposed to a tent, and he consulted the prophet Nathan...)

2 ... the king said to Nathan the prophet, “See now, I live in a house of cedar, but the ark of God remains within the tent.” Nathan said to the king, “Go, do all that is in your mind, for the Lord is with you.” But in the same night, the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying, “Go and say to My servant David, ‘This is what the Lord says: “Should you build Me a house for My dwelling? . . .

III. Reflection

QuestionsHow fast was the prophet Nathan in answering David--very fast, fast, not so fast?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for letting me know that, regardless of the actual speed, the prophet's answer to David was, indeed, fast. I thank You for being kind to Nathan in correcting him, lovingly and privately. You gave him a second chance to get it right. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me to be slow to speak (James 1:19). O Lord! Today, please train me in this area--slow to speak. And once faulty, please help me not to be ashamed to correct myself with the Word from You. Amen
