The last resort or it's second nature...

I. Click here to READ 2 Samuel 15 first.

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (running away from his own son, David, and all his entourage left the palace in a hurry...)

30 And David went up the ascent of the Mount of Olives, and wept as he went, and his head was covered and he walked barefoot. Then all the people who were with him each covered his head and went up weeping as they went. 31 Now someone told David, saying, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said, “O Lord, I pray, make the counsel of Ahithophel foolishness.”

III. Reflection

QuestionsAt the depth of his painful and shameful descent, what were the two special things that David did?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for letting me see that, in the most painful and shameful condition of David's life, he managed to climb up to the mountain of God, and that he prayed. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that when You were deeply grieved to the point of death, You came to the Father and You prayed (Matthew 26:36-39). O Lord! Today, please help me to resort to Your presence and praying, not as a last resort but as second nature. Amen
