Please God or Grieve God...

I. Click here to READ 2 Samuel 12 first.

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (David committed adultery with Bathsheba and murdered her husband as his plot to cover up his sin failed. Through the prophet Nathan, the Lord questioned David and told him...)

Why have you despised the word of the Lord by doing evil in His sight?

14 However, because by this deed you have given occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme...

III. Reflection

QuestionsWhat are the consequences of our sinning besides our being punished?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for letting me see the spreading consequences of sinning that affect David himself, his infant son, his adult children, his kingdom, his respect for You, and his causing others to verbally abuse Your holy name. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that, in loving me, You have given me one of the immeasurably great abilities of all. And that is the "ability" to grieve the Holy Spirit--the utmost Highness and Majestic God (Ephesians 4:30). O Lord, may I never use this "ability". Today, please teach me to please, not grieve, You. Amen
