II. One thing the Bible teaches: (Being rejected from the willingness to fight for the Philistines, David and his army came home only to find out that their families had been raided, their loved ones had been taken away, and their community had been burned down...)

Then David and the people who were with him lifted their voices and wept until there was no strength in them to weep. . . . Then David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, “Please bring me the ephod.” So Abiathar brought the ephod to David. David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this band? Shall I overtake them?” And He said to him, “Pursue, for you will surely overtake them, and you will surely rescue all.”

III. Reflection

QuestionsWhat was the first thing David did after weeping his heart out?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God, I thank You for letting me know that David wept when facing the calamity that happened to his family. And, as a human, he cried a lot in the face of losing his loved ones. I thank You, Lord, for showing me that, as soon as David finished weeping, he immediately turned to You and inquired of You. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that, unchangeably, You are the Way (John 14:6). May I know to run to You, Lord, even when the situation calls for crying, weeping, and tiring. Please help me turn to You, Lord. After crying. Amen
