8 ...David and his men went up and raided the Geshurites and the Girzites and the Amalekites; for they were the inhabitants of the land from ancient times, as you come to Shur even as far as the land of Egypt. 9 David attacked the land and did not leave a man or a woman alive, and he took away the sheep, the cattle, the donkeys, the camels, and the clothing. Then he returned and came to Achish. 10 Now Achish said, “Where have you made a raid today?” And David said, “Against the Negev of Judah and against the Negev of the Jerahmeelites and against the Negev of the Kenites.”

IV. Application

Dear Lord God, I thank You for showing me that David was a survivor, and he told many lies in his life. I thank You for reminding me that You chose David not because he was a saint. He was not at all. You chose him to make him a saint; You chose him so that You could create in him a clean heart (Ps 51:10). I thank You, Lord Jesus, for bringing me to this point to remind me of Your teaching that I must be born again (John 3:7). O Lord! Today, please help me not to consider lying as the truth. Please also help me to accept that my yesteryears were not good at all. I thank You for making me anew in Christ from this point forward. Amen

O Lord Jesus! Today, I am praying for certain readers who are waiting to be better before becoming part of Your household. Please assure them that You do not mind at all to transform each person from where she or he is into a clear heart. O Holy Spirit! Please urge them to wait no longer. Today. Amen
