Refrain from talking. Timely responding...

I. Click here to READ 1 Samuel 25 first.

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (Abigail was quick on her feet to act to save her husband's life and the lives of those in the household of Nabal. The issue was caused by his harsh social skills and evil dealings with David. Upon returning home from her peace-making trip with David...)

36 Then Abigail came to Nabal, and behold, he was holding a feast in his house, like the feast of a king. And Nabal’s heart was merry within him, for he was very drunk; so she did not tell him anything at all until the morning light.

III. Reflection

QuestionsHow did Abigail live up to her description as an intelligent woman?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God, I thank you for teaching me a good example of wisdom from Abigail — knowing when not to speak. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your own teaching in action--Your not talking and Your responding (Mark 14:60-62). O Lord! Today, please help me know when to refrain from talking and when to respond promptly. Amen
