II. One thing the Bible teaches: (David told the surviving son of the priest of the Lord, whom Saul had ordered killed...)
23 Stay with me; do not be afraid, for he who seeks my life seeks your life, for you are safe with me.”
III. Reflection
* Questions: There is guilt by association. Is there such a thing regarding safety?
IV. Application
Dear Lord God: I thank You for reminding me that not only is there such a thing as guilt by association, but it is also unavoidable that hatred is by association as well (v23). I thank You, Lord Jesus, for the reminder that the world hates us because it hates You first (John 15:18). O Lord! Today, please help me not render judgment by association. Please help me pay attention to Your offer--being with You to be safe. Safety does not come from the place; safety comes from Your presence in the place. Amen
O Lord Jesus! Today, I pray for certain readers who are afraid of someone or something. May they respond to the invitation from You, the Almighty God, "Stay with Me. You will be safe." Amen
