Insecurity for Security...

II. One thing the Bible teaches

1 Then Naomi, her mother-in-law, said to her, “My daughter, shall I not seek security for you, that it may be well with you?

III. Reflection

QuestionsDoesn't it give Naomi insecurity when she sought to establish security for Ruth? What does that insecurity look like?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God, I thank You for letting me see that seeking security for Ruth's life would mean that Naomi's life would become insecure. This became even more pronounced when Naomi advanced in age. Physically, she would lose a second pair of eyes, feet, and hands. Emotionally, she would lose her constant fellowship with Ruth. Financially, she would lose the very means to support her living. Still, Naomi wanted to sincerely seek the security of her daughter-in-law. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that You want the people who follow You to have this same spirit--look out for, and work for, the interests of others (Philippians 2:4). O Lord! Today, please open an opportunity for me to obey Your teaching. Amen
