Pray, Pray, keep Praying...

II. One thing the Bible teaches (the Israelites came together to punish the Benjaminites concerning the wickedness they did to the priest's family...)

18 Now the sons of Israel arose, went up to Bethel, and inquired of God and said . . . 23 The sons of Israel went up and wept before the Lord until evening, and inquired of the Lord, saying . . . 26 Then all the sons of Israel and all the people went up and came to Bethel and wept; thus they remained there before the Lord and fasted that day until evening. And they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord. 27 The sons of Israel inquired of the Lord, saying . . .

III. Reflection

QuestionsHow many times did the Israelites pray? How many thousands of their people died after each time?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me the persistence and faithfulness of the Israelites in inquiring of You before they went to war. Although 22,000 of their people died after they made the first move as You instructed, they still asked about You again. And again, 18,000 died. Still, they inquired about You again, but this time it was done differently. Then they made the move, and this time they were victorious. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your teaching on being persistent in prayer (Luke 18:1-8). O Lord! Today, please help me not to give up coming to You. Help me, Lord, to trust You in that You know best what is best for me. Amen
