Hypocritical or Dead serious...

I. Click here to READ 1 Samuel 2 first.

II. One thing the Bible teaches (in the midst of a horrible spiritual crisis caused by the two sons of the priest Eli in the temple, with their being stubbornly unrepentant...)

26 Now the boy Samuel was growing in stature and in favor both with the Lord and with men.

III. Reflection

QuestionsIs it hypocritical to be in favor both with the Lord and with men?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: thank You for showing me that it does not have to be a conflict to be in favor of You and with men. This is not a masked face of living; this is not hypocritical; this is dead serious. Being in favor of God will lead to being in favor of men. I thank You for letting me see that character in Samuel. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that Your life displayed that very dual character (Luke 2:52). O Lord! Today, please help me to live a life that results in people praising You through my doing, talking, and behaving. Amen
