From a sinner to a household member...

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (Saul wanted to give his daughter in marriage to David, and he told his servants to come and tell David of his intention...)
23 So Saul’s servants spoke these words to David. But David said, “Is it trivial in your sight to become the king’s son-in-law, since I am a poor man and lightly esteemed?”
III. Reflection
* Questions: Is it trivial to become a king's son-in-law, particularly when one is poor and a nobody?
IV. Application
Dear Lord God: I thank You for letting me know the truth that David confirmed to be true: to be a son-in-law of a king--to be a member of a king's family--is not trivial, especially when one is poor and lightly esteemed (v23). I thank You, O Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that, through Your sacrificial work of salvation, I am a member of Your household (Ephesians 2:19). Please help me to be grateful for Your taking me through the process from a sinner to a member of the household of the glorious God! Today. Amen
O God! Today, I pray for certain readers who have yet to be members of Your household because they feel unworthy of being children of the holy and majestic God. May they realize that no one is; and that no one is abandoned because of that unworthiness. I pray that they also realize that You approached them — us — first. Please use me today to keep extending your invitation , "Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Amen
