II. One thing the Bible teaches: (David volunteered to go to fight the giant Goliath personally since no one in the whole of Israel dared to...)

33 Then Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are but a youth while he has been a warrior from his youth.”

III. Reflection

QuestionsKing Saul was known to make many serious mistakes in his life. How was this judgment of his about to become one of the most serious mistakes yet?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God, I thank you for revealing to me that Saul's assessment of David's experience was quite mistaken, affecting the entire nation of Israel. He may not have the kind of military experience in Saul's eyes. Still, if military experience was about fighting to win, David already had plenty of such fighting experience in his young life. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that You Yourself were belittled as well: can anything good come out of Nazareth? (John 1:46). O Lord! Today, may I not miss the opportunities to use the precious human resources that You have granted just because my definitions of experience and ability are narrow-mindedly set. Amen
