II. One thing the Bible teaches: (The Lord chastised His people...)
17 . . . ‘I brought Israel up from Egypt, and I delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the power of all the kingdoms that were oppressing you.’ 19 But you have today rejected your God, who delivers you from all your calamities and your distresses; yet you have said, ‘No, but set a king over us!’
III. Reflection
* Questions: Saul was caught in the middle between his God and his Israelite people. How did the Lord treat him?
IV. Application
Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me that You are, indeed, the loving God. Your people rejected You, but still, You cared for them (9:16). This Saul was to take Your place among Your people, yet You were with him too (10:7). I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that Your love is amazingly special--Having loved us, You love till the end (John 13:1). O Lord God! Help me to please You today by being faith-full--fully trusting You. Amen
