Cannot drive out, Jesus steps in...

II. One thing the Bible teaches (after Joshua's death, fighting against the local inhabitants by the different tribes of Israel continued...)
19 ...but [Judah] could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley... 21 But the sons of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites... 28 ... but [Israel] did not drive them out completely... 29 Ephraim did not drive out the Canaanites... 30 Zebulun did not drive out the inhabitants of Kitron... 31 Asher did not drive out the inhabitants of Acco... 32 ... for [the Asherites] did not drive them out.... 33 Naphtali did not drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh...
III. Reflection
* Questions: How many times in total did the Israelites not drive out (or they couldn't drive out) the local inhabitants in their midst according to the above Scripture?
IV. Application
Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me that it was more than once--in fact, 8 times--Your people Israelites did not or could not drive out the inhabitants living in their midst. Because they lived and associated with their enemies, their lives were insecure. They were not blessed, and they lost You. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that, by myself, I cannot drive out sin from my life. That was the reason You came in human flesh to be able to carry all my sins and the sins of humanity (1 Peter 2:24). Dear Lord Jesus: today, please help me to live gratefully. Please give me an opportunity to let another person know that Your saving grace is standing ready for him or her, also. Amen
