Assuming no, Verifying yes...

II. One thing the Bible teaches (Samson's lover openly let him know that she repeatedly wanted to know how to bind him to weaken him to hurt him. After the 4th try, Samson told her the true secret of his strength. She had his hair shaved off...)

20 She said, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” And he awoke from his sleep and said, “I will go out as at other times and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the Lord had departed from him. 21 Then the Philistines seized him and gouged out his eyes; and they brought him down to Gaza and bound him with bronze chains, and he was a grinder in the prison.

III. Reflection

QuestionsWhat critical mistake did Samson make?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God, I thank You for showing me that Samson made many mistakes in his life. One of which was refusing to accept that his lover was out to hurt him. And she did that openly by shouting into his ear with her evil plan. Still, he did not listen. But the most critical mistake that he made was assuming that when the Lord left him, He would announce that departure to him. Otherwise, Samson would assume that the Lord was still with him. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that there is another critical mistake that we may be making today. And that is when we do ministries in Your name, we assume that we do them for You (Matthew 7:22-23). Please God, today, help me not to make that assumption. Please train me to be sure by verifying with You through prayers and Your Scripture. Amen
