Leader, last in line...

II. One thing the Bible teaches (toward the end of the promised land's apportioning...)

49 When they finished apportioning the land for inheritance by its borders, the sons of Israel gave an inheritance in their midst to Joshua the son of Nun. 50 In accordance with the command of the Lord they gave him the city for which he asked, Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim. So he built the city and settled in it.

III. Reflection

QuestionsWhat does it tell us that Joshua, being the leader, was the last one to be given a piece of land? Wasn't he of the Ephraim tribe? Wasn't land given to this tribe already?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God, I thank You for showing me that Joshua was indeed of the Ephraim tribe, and this tribe had already been allotted its land. Joshua was a favorite leader in the eyes of the Lord, and He wanted to reward him especially. It was His prerogative! Although Joshua was a special leader before the Lord, he did not mind standing at the very end of the line to be allotted land, just as everyone else. It was, indeed, a respectable model of humility! I thank You, Lord Jesus, for bringing me to this point to remind me of You Yourself — God became man to live just as everyone else (Matthew 13:55). Dear Lord Jesus! Please help me to truly lower myself sincerely. Today. Amen
