Do not wait for the windfall...

I. Click here to READ Joshua 18 first.

II. One thing the Bible teaches (on the apportioning of the promised land...)

Then the whole congregation of the sons of Israel assembled themselves at Shiloh, and set up the tent of meeting there; and the land was subdued before them. There remained among the sons of Israel seven tribes who had not divided their inheritance. So Joshua said to the sons of Israel, “How long will you put off entering to take possession of the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you?

III. Reflection

QuestionsJoshua asked the Israelites a question, but there was no answer. Why did the Israelites put off entering to take possession of the land the Lord had given them?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God, I do not know why the Israelites put off entering to take possession of the Promised Land. But I thank You for reminding me of the many times I put off entering the possession of the blessings You promised. Putting off because of the fear of the tomorrow that I do not know, and because of the seeming security of today that I think I know. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that I have been very wrong because even "this very night" I do not know (Luke 12:20). Help me today, Lord, not to wait for the windfall. Please give me the wisdom to pursue Your blessings without delay. Amen
