II. One thing the Bible teaches (after winning the war with the Ai country, Joshua built an altar to the Lord. He led his people in worshiping the Lord. He read the Word of the Lord...)
35 There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded which Joshua did not read before all the assembly of Israel with the women and the little ones and the strangers who were living among them.
III. Reflection
* Questions: What was the significance of including in the listening audience women, the little ones, and the strangers who were living among them when Joshua read the Word of God?
IV. Application
Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me that Joshua included the women, the little ones, and the foreigners who lived in the community in his listening audience as he read Your Word to the Israelites. This was not about equality in the community; it was about spiritual responsibility for the community. One Achan could--and did--drive the whole nation into a military defeat and spiritual bankruptcy (Joshua 7). I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that You took the little ones' spiritual welfare very seriously (Matthew 18:6). Dear Lord Jesus, please help me to work harder to support the Word in reaching the women, the little ones and neglected others including the foreigners, the elderly and the sick, etc, in my community of faith at present. Amen
