Glorify God? Bring forth the sins...
I. Click here to READ Joshua 7 first.
II. One thing the Bible teaches (finding out Achan to be the one who was responsible for the shameful defeat of the Israelites against Ai, a small country...)
19 Then Joshua said to Achan, “My son, I implore you, give glory to the Lord, the God of Israel, and give praise to Him; and tell me now what you have done. Do not hide it from me.” 20 So Achan answered Joshua and said, “Truly, I have sinned against the Lord, the God of Israel, and this is what I did: 21 when I saw among the spoil a beautiful mantle from Shinar and two hundred shekels of silver and a bar of gold fifty shekels in weight, then I coveted them and took them; and behold, they are concealed in the earth inside my tent with the silver underneath it.”
III. Reflection
* Questions: How did Achan's statement about his stealing give glory to the Lord?
IV. Application
Dear Lord God: I thank You for letting me know that You did not need to be proven right by the confession of Achan to be glorified. You are always right! You are the Truth! Repentance, however, is what You are after in Your children. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for reminding me that repentance brings special joy to heaven (Luke 15:7). Dear Lord Jesus, please help me to repent my sins today, and every day, to purposefully contribute to the joy of heaven and the glory of the Father. Amen
