Torrential water, Flying time...

II. One thing the Bible teaches (about the crossing of the Jordan River by the Israelites into the promised land...)

10 For the priests who carried the ark were standing in the middle of the Jordan until everything was completed that the Lord had commanded Joshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moses had commanded Joshua. And the people hurried and crossed; 11 and when all the people had finished crossing, the ark of the Lord and the priests crossed before the people.

III. Reflection

QuestionsWhy did the people have to hurry and cross the Jordan River? Was the drying up of the river a timed event?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for letting me know that Your people were not racing against the clock in crossing the Jordan River because they feared that a certain preset time would expire and the torrential river water would come back to wash them away. However, one of the reasons that they hurried to cross the river was because they were about to enter wartime, which involved 40,000 soldiers from among them (v. 13) once they came off the river on the other side. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for bringing me to this point, reminding me of Your teaching that while there is still daylight, we must hurry, taking advantage of it to do the work that needs to be done (John 9:4). O Lord Jesus! Today, please help me to have a sense of urgency to do whatever kingdom work I can, because the end times are drawing near. Maranatha, Lord Jesus. Amen
