Tomorrow's death, Today's action...

II. One thing the Bible teaches (The great things that the Jehovah God did for His people from Egypt and through the 40 years in the wilderness have reached the ears, and terrified the hearts, of the Canaanites and the Rahab woman. She said to the two Israelite spies after risking her life to save theirs...)
11 When we heard it [the Lord's deliverance of His people in the wilderness], our hearts melted and no courage remained in any man any longer because of you; for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath. 12 Now therefore, please swear to me by the Lord, since I have dealt kindly with you, that you also will deal kindly with my father’s household, and give me a pledge of truth, 13 and spare my father and my mother and my brothers and my sisters, with all who belong to them, and deliver our lives from death.
III. Reflection
* Questions: What did the Rahab woman do in anticipation of the incoming disaster that surely would bring death to her beloved family?
IV. Application
Dear Lord God, I thank You for showing me the wisdom of the Rahab woman, even as she worked as a prostitute. Her love of life and the life of her beloved family drove her to act radically--risking her own life to save the lives of the soon-to-be victorious enemy. And successfully she did. Her risky plan worked out. Her life and the lives of her loved ones were spared when her country fell into the hands of the Israelites. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that there is a lake of fire that is the destination for those whose names are not written in the Book of Life (Rev 20:15). O Lord, please help me learn from the Rahab woman to confront the incoming eternal death by trusting and obeying the Lord Jesus Christ today. Yes, Lord, today's action or tomorrow's death. Amen
