Maker of promise Keeper of promise...

I. Click here to READ Joshua 10 first.

II. One thing the Bible teaches (Gibeon was under attack by the alliance of the 5 neighboring countries because it made a covenant with the Israelites...)

Then the men of Gibeon sent word to Joshua to the camp at Gilgal, saying, “Do not abandon your servants; come up to us quickly and save us and help us, for all the kings of the Amorites that live in the hill country have assembled against us.” So Joshua went up from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him and all the valiant warriors.

III. Reflection

QuestionsWhy will associating with God's people be a cause to be hated and attacked by other people?

IV. Application

Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me that it is true today as it was in the millennia past-- it is a norm that people of the world hate the Lord's followers. They also hate the people who associate with the Lord's followers. One of the good characteristics of God's people, as shown in the passage above, was their faithfulness to the promise made, even to the previously deceptive Gibeonites. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your teaching that persecution because of Your name's sake will come to Christians. That's a given. There is, however, a precious promise You made for those who endure to the end (Matthew 10:22), and that is You will not forget the faithful ones. O Lord! Please help me today to be a promise-keeper, as You are a keeper of Your promises. Amen
