Death: a breath of freedom...

I. Click here to READ Numbers 35 first.

II. One thing the Bible teaches(when a person accidentally killed another person who was not his enemy...)

24 then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the blood avenger according to these ordinances. 25 The congregation shall deliver the manslayer from the hand of the blood avenger, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge to which he fled; and he shall live in it until the death of the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil . . . 28 . . . but after the death of the high priest the manslayer shall return to the land of his possession.

III. Reflection

QuestionsFill in the blanks: So long as the high priest is alive, the manslayer is free from ______ but does not have free___.

IV. Application:

Dear Lord God, I thank You for showing me the importance of the high priest's life to a manslayer who accidentally killed another person. So long as the high priest is alive, the manslayer is free from death, but does not have freedom. The manslayer has freedom only when the high priest is dead. The high priest's death makes it possible for the manslayer to be free again, completely. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that You are the great high priest (Heb 4:14). Your death, indeed, gives me the freedom to live an abundant life here and now that lasts into eternity in Your presence. May my life today reflect the Christ in me. Amen

Today, I pray for certain readers who are yet to have the freedom from the bondage of sin. May they have the benefit of Your sacrificial death on the cross. Amen
